Road closed in Worsley as girl, 16, hospitalised in accident
Leigh Road in Boothstown has been closed after a teenage girl was injured in a car accident.

The girl, age 16, has been taken to Salford Royal Hospital after suffering head injuries and a suspected broken pelvis.

As of 11.15pm police were awaiting the results of scans to see if the girls injuries were especially severe.

It’s understood at around 8.45pm tonight, Tuesday 7 April, the girl was a pedestrian involved in an accident with a car driving on the main road towards the A580 East Lancs Road.

No arrests have been made.

Traffic officers have closed off Leigh Road at the junction of Ellenbrook Road up to Simpson Road.

A spokesperson for the force suggested prelimiary investigations were underway into the cause of the accident, but said if it appears to be more serious than first thought, the Serious Collision Investigation Unit would close the road for a significant period of time.

Any eyewitnesses should call Greater Manchester Police on 101.
