Winton fundraise for We Love Lewis tops £7,000

Fundraising for a seriously-ill boy from Winton in Salford has topped £7,000 in the past three months, SalfordOnline.com can reveal.

Friends and family helping 12-year-old Salford City Academy pupil Lewis Pierce (inset) have totted up all the money they’ve raised so far and are delighted with the total amount.

Three months ago Lewis was struck down with a mysterious illness – for which doctors at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital still have no concrete diagnosis.

Currently the Man City-mad lad is being treated for FIRES, or febrile infection-related epilepsy syndrome, a potentially fatal illness that develops in previously healthy children.

As part of the fundraising drive, friends and family helped organise an incredible Halloween funfair to wow the crowds that took over an entire street in Winton.

Lewis’ dad Matthew Pierce gives his reaction to the funfair, along with his funloving neighbours in this SalfordOnline.com video.

He told us on the day: ““To turn up coming from the hospital and see a full funfair on the street where I’ve pretty much grown up is absolutely crazy.”

Now the total amount from the stalls and the fair has been totted up and co-ordinator Chrissy Corps tells us they’ve reached a staggering £7,000 to help support the family.

Chrissy, 32, said today: “I’m so happy we’ve been able to put this together.

“Lewis is so popular around here because he loves being out and spending time with people.

“I know this will help the family massively and we’re now all just waiting for Lewis to get better again.”
