Metrolink’s elves back in the city with VIP competition

Metrolink’s Christmas elves are coming back to Manchester city centre to spread festive cheer and lend a helping hand to shoppers and visitors.

The team of elves, kitted out in Metrolink’s official colours, will be around city centre tram stops in the run up to Christmas to meet and greet people with a handy Metrolink bag for life, city centre maps, and the offer of an elfie selfie!

Metrolink has also teamed up with Smooth FM to offer the chance to win a VIP trip to Manchester, with £200 shopping vouchers, free Metrolink travel and tickets (2 adults and 2 children) to see Torvill and Dean star in Cinderella at Manchester Opera House on 29 December, with a night’s stay in the Macdonald Manchester Hotel and Spa.

Peter Cushing, Transport for Greater Manchester’s Metrolink Director, said: “It’s not only the most wonderful time of the year, it’s also the busiest, with the Christmas markets in full swing and plenty to do and see.

“Our elves will be back again to help shoppers and visitors who may not know the city too well – with maps, advice and a free sustainable bag to help out with Christmas shopping.

The St Peter’s Square Metrolink stop is currently closed for transformation, but the markets are just a short walk from the Deansgate-Castlefield, Piccadilly Gardens, Market Street, Shudehill and Victoria stops.

A map of the Christmas Markets that gives visitors the best walking route through the attraction is available. For details of all the wonderful things to do in Manchester this Christmas, click here.

There will be pedestrian access at all times and all locations along the route of the transformational Second City Crossing while construction work continues.
