Salford teen wins Cream of the Community award

Creamline Dairies, the long established, Trafford based family company has announced that Salford teenager Ethan Evans,13, is the winner of its inaugural ‘Creamline: Cream of the Community’ awards.

Calling on the people of Greater Manchester and Cheshire to nominate community spirited family members, friends and contacts, Creamline was extremely impressed with the selfless fund-raising activities that Ethan has been involved in, on behalf of several local appeals.

Nominated by his Grandad Edwin Green, who provided details of Ethan’s achievements, including a staggering £15,000 raised in the last two years for charities such as St Ann’s Hospice, The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, as well as collecting over 100 kilograms of food for the Salford Food Bank.

Ethan has achieved all this whilst forging a promising career in swimming, becoming Lancashire County Champion and runner up in the North West region last year and he is now working towards his ultimate aim of competing in the 2024 Olympics.

As the winner of the prestigious community title, Ethan has received a £500 prize to be donated to the charitable cause of his choice, Asthma UK, an organisation that Ethan has personal links to as several of his friends have the condition.

As well as being awarded the Creamline charity donation, Ethan is set to be treated to breakfast in bed cooked by the team at the Cheshire Cookery School, with Granddad Edwin also receiving a fabulous hamper of Creamline products, items he is set to donate to a local charitable cause.

Commenting on Creamline’s community initiative, joint managing director Rob Purvis said: ‘’The Cream of the Community award scheme showed we have many unsung heroes throughout Greater Manchester and Cheshire, with Ethan’s amazing story standing out from the rest of the crowd.

“We’re thrilled to be able to contribute to Ethan’s fund-raising efforts, especially for such a worthwhile charity as Asthma UK and hope he and his Grandad enjoy the other prizes.

Commenting on his Cream of the Community win, Ethan said: “It was a huge surprise to be chosen as the winner of the award scheme, as I didn’t even know that my Grandad had nominated me!

“I’m really excited at the news and am looking forward to donating the money to Asthma UK and adding to the funds I’ve already raised for charity.”
