Two men armed with an axe and a machete enacted a terrifying robbery at a store on Salford precinct last night in front of shoppers and commuters.
Shortly after 5.10pm on Monday 30 November police were called to Co-op Travel on Hankinson Way.
The two thieves went into the shop and demanded cash, before escaping on a motorbike.
No-one was injured, police report.
Eyewitnesses waiting for buses after work reported seeing a man on a motorbike wearing a balaclava enter Salford Shopping City near Lloyds TSB bank, riding through the indoor shopping centre.
Officers are now studying CCTV but no arrests have been made and enquiries to trace the men are ongoing.
