St Ann’s Hospice call for ‘Colour Runners’ to help terminally ill

A local charity is bringing a kaleidoscope of colour to the streets with its latest fundraising event.

St Ann’s Hospice is asking people from across the city to sign up to join them for a very special fun run with a difference, to raise essential funds to care for local patients.

The hospice, which cares for hundreds of patients a year in Little Hulton, will host a 5k Colour Run in March.

In the quirky event participants are showered with multi-coloured powder paint as they walk, run or jog the route.

Alison Gilbody, Director of Income Generation and Communications at the hospice, said: “In the New Year many people start to think about getting fit or taking on new challenges, and the Colour Run will be a great way of easing into that new regime whilst having a huge amount of fun.

“We depend on local supporters to keep the hospice running, as we have to fundraise around £16,000 every single day to continue to care for our patients and their families.

She added: “The beauty of this event is that it’s perfect for all ages, so is a great thing for families to get together on a Sunday morning and take part in. Everyone likes to get a bit messy, and this is all in the name of a good cause.”

The event will be taking place in Wythenshawe Park on Sunday 20th March and the fun starts at 11am.
