A popular police dog called Ruby has retired at the grand old of age of eight.
The English springer spaniel spent her entire life working for Greater Manchester Police as a sniffer dog.
In the course of her duty, she helped officers seized tens of thousands of pounds in stolen and counterfeit cash, and helped uncover hidden Class A, B and C drugs in house searches and on planned operations.
“Ruby had an outstanding career at GMP,” the post on GMP Salford West Facebook says.
“Due to Ruby’s energetic, hard-working and good natured personality she was often chosen to attend schools, charity fun days and she even appeared on CBeebies Mr Tumble.
“She also took part in a joint operation with the CTU at the airport where she located thousands of pounds worth of cash and even assisted with the location of a number of firearms.”
Since the announcement a post about her retirement on Facebook and Twitter has been shared over 500 times.
