Homelessness charity, Emmaus Salford, is appealing for donations of good quality unwanted furniture, household goods and bric-a-brac.
The Salford based charity currently supports 12 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home and work in a community setting. The charity runs two social enterprises in Salford*, selling donated furniture, clothes, books and household goods to help raise the funds needed to support people in need who live at the community.
With many people receiving Christmas gifts that have replaced older items, January is a key time to donate unwanted goods, and an important month for charity shops.
Simon Locke, Community Leader at Emmaus Salford, said: “January is a time when a lot of people are having a post-Christmas clear out and de-clutter. Here at Emmaus Salford we really need your unwanted items so we can sell them on and raise money to support even more homeless people. Our community is growing thanks to the generosity and support from people across Salford.”
Anton, aged 29, is a formerly homeless person who now lives and works at Emmaus Salford. Anton said: “Emmaus Salford has given me a safe, warm place off the streets which has given me the time to think about what I want to do with my future. Emmaus Salford is helping me to make the changes I need to make to move on with my life.”
