Salford SME conference aims to help local businesses grow and succeed

Businesspeople from Salford and across the North West met on Thursday 16 April at an all-day conference, organised by CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

The event, held at the University of Salford MediaCityUK, was aimed at managing directors, finance directors and finance professionals from the area who are working at a senior level within SMEs.

It looked at the challenges facing those who work with local small and medium sized businesses and how these can be overcome to help them prosper.

It was chaired by Steven Swientozielskyj who is Executive committee, council member and Chairman of the CIMA Professional Standards and Ethics committee.

He said: “SMEs are a critical part of our economy and this conference showed how much CIMA is committed to supporting this key sector.

“Management accountants place a fundamental role in growth and development of SME businesses and as the challenges faced are often unique it was a great opportunity to come together and find ways to address them and help the local firms with which the work thrive and succeed.”
