Man’s body found next to burning tent in Salford


The body of a man has been discovered in Salford.

Fire crews called police to the scene, under a railway bridge on Irwell Street, in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish a tent that was ablaze at the scene.

The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the force was called to Irwell Street at 1.20am on Wednesday morning.

The man has not yet been identified and it is not yet known whether his next of kin have been informed.

An investigation is underway to discover how the fire started.

More details are expected later today.
