Police are appealing for witnesses after a man’s body was found under a railway bridge in Salford.
At around 1.20am officers were called to Irwell Street in Ordsall following reports that a tent located under a railway bridge was on fire.
When Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire, a man’s body was discovered in the tent.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and the investigation is on-going.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Walker said: “We are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and the cause of the fire.
“Currently we are investigating all possibilities, nothing is being ruled out at the moment.
“We are appealing for any members of the community who have seen anything or who have any information about this incident or who know the man’s identity to get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
