Swinton care provider helps St Ann’s Hospice

A family-run community care provider has linked up with St Ann’s Hospice to offer occupational therapy support.

Optimum Care (North West), based on the East Lancashire Road in Swinton, is funding freelance specialist physiotherapist Tinashe Dangarembizi to provide evening and weekend treatments.

Tinashe, from Swinton, treats staff and volunteers as part of an additional service at the Little Hulton hospice.

Helen Murphy, Complementary Therapy Co-ordinator at St Ann’s, said: “We’re extremely grateful for the kind offer of help from Optimum Care.

“Our own complementary therapists work tirelessly with patients but they don’t have time to treat staff who spend a lot of time lifting and carrying on wards and in Day Care.

“We also mustn’t forget that our volunteers give their own time to help us out so it’s great to be able to offer them this service.”

Optimum Care is run by Gary Sturtivant, wife Wilma and her sister Grace Fell. Gary said: “We always like to give something back to the community and this is our way of helping out at St Ann’s Hospice.

“We realise the value of hospice care through our work as specialist care providers. Our fully trained staff provide personal care and domestic services to people in their homes allowing them as much independence as possible.

“We work closely with social services departments and one of our newest services is Care on Camera, a monitoring facility which means regular checks can be made easily to ensure relatives are secure.”
