Police investigating an attempted robbery at a Conservative club in Worsley say it could be linked with a string of similar incidents in Salford.
A terrified female staff member thought a robber was holding a gun to her head, threatening to shoot, before he was chased away by customers.
At around 10.50pm on Sunday 17 January 2016, the suspect ran towards the woman as she stood outside the fire exit of Brackley Conservative Club on Hazelhurst Fold in Worsley.
He followed her inside, grabbed her and held what police describe as “an unknown object” to the back of her head, making threats to shoot her.
But he was scared away, running back through the fire exit when customers ran out to defend the woman.
She was not injured but was left extremely shaken by the ordeal.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that nothing was stolen in the attack.
The man is described as white, around 6ft tall and slim.
He had a local accent and was wearing a dark blue parka jacket with fur-lined hood. His face was covered.
Police are now appealing for information and witnesses.
Detective Constable Danielle McCafferty said: “We have been investigating a number of robberies in the Salford area and we believe this may be linked.
“We are keen to track down the offender and would ask anyone with information about who may be involved to make contact with police.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 9403 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
