A horrifying racial attack against an Asian family took place last night in Salford.
At around 10.15pm on Wednesday 3 February three masked men burst through the patio doors of the property just off Langworthy Road armed with machetes and knives.
Two members of the family were at home during the ordeal, where the offenders shouted, “Die Isis we will kill you”.
The family apparently set off an alarm which scared away the three-man gang.
It’s understood nothing was stolen, and the attackers didn’t ask the family to hand over cash or jewellery.
Councillor John Warmisham, who represents Langworthy, told SalfordOnline.com: “I am disgusted with this.
Langworthy itself and Salford as a wider city has a very integrated community with multicultural visitors from overseas due to the famous Salford Docks.
“For this to happen I am appalled. It is totally unacceptable.
“I feel that certain areas of the media are to blame for hate crime of this kind, the way the media views migrants, and the constant stories of radicalistion only fuel matters.
“I am not aware off the top of my head of any similar incidents happening in Salford but in recent times there has been isolated incidents of hate crime in Broughton against Jewish communties.”
Greater Manchester Police are understood to be treating the incident as a targeted attack.
