Police are hunting for three men who broke into a family home in Eccles and stole jewellery.
At around 1.50am on Wednesday 3 February 2016, a family were woken after three men in balaclavas forced their way into their home, armed with a gun, an axe and a machete.
The family were asleep in bed in their house on Stafford Road, Eccles, when three men smashed through the door with an axe.
Once inside the house the offenders threatened the family and a 57 year old man sustained a cut to his hand which was caused by the machete.
The offenders pointed a gun at a 54 year old woman and snatched a gold necklace from around her neck.
They then took the keys to the family car before leaving the address however, they were unable to take the vehicle with them.
They were all described as white, wearing black clothing, gloves and balaclavas.
The men were of a slim build and spoke with local accents.
Detective Sergeant Peter Morris of GMP’s Salford Division said: “This was a terrifying attack on a family as they slept in their beds.
“Luckily there were no serious injuries, however they have obviously very distressed, and we could easily have been dealing with a very different situation.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area.”
