A vulnerable elderly pensioner in Swinton was hurt when would-be burglars hurled a paving slab through her back window.
Police were called to the scene, at a cul-de-sac off Partington Lane, at 6.55am on Wednesday 17 February.
One offender approached the rear window of the property and picked up a large concrete slab from the garden, shattering the glass as they smashed it through.
The woman, 97, was reportedly sleeping in the same room and was covered in shards of glass.
She was reportedly shaken by the ordeal and lucky not to be seriously injured.
It’s understood the thieves tried to make their way in through the broken window but were scared away when she managed to sound the alarm.
Police confirmed that a number of attempts were also made to break into cars on the same street.
