Detective Superintendent Phil Reade from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “The investigation into this man’s death is at an early stage, but we are doing all we can to support devastated family members at this very tragic time and a man has been taken into custody for questioning.
“We will try to update the public when we can with any further details, but this appears to be an isolated incident and there is not believed to be any threat to the wider community.
“We have extra officers patrolling in the area and if anyone knows, saw or heard anything that they think might assist police with their enquiries, I would ask them to please go and speak with these officers and tell them what you know.”
