Buile Hill Park gets new marker posts for fun runners

Fun runners are being urged to go the distance with new courses in Buile Hill Park.

Salford City Council has installed marker posts showing the route of three different lengths of fun runs.

The three new courses – the first of their kind in Salford – are marked out at one kilometre, two kilometres and three kilometres which takes runners right around the edge of the park.

Councillor Gena Merrett, executive lead member for housing and environment, said: “We had requests from runners for safe routes and came across the 3-2-1-Run England scheme promoted by England Athletics.

“The scheme not only provides the direction markers for the routes but also offers support from running groups, newsletters and other benefits. People can sign up at the Run England or just enjoy using the markers to measure their distance.

“Funding for the scheme was kindly donated by the Claremont and Weaste community committee.

“It’s the first one we have installed in Salford and I hope people get a lot of enjoyment from it.”
