Salford Red Devils look to smash Wigan for three on the bounce

Salford Red Devils will be aiming to prove that their demolition of St Helens wasn’t a fluke when they take the fight to Wigan Warriors at The DW Stadium tonight.

The Reds have won their previous two in style and hope to make it a hat-trick of Super League victories.

Meanwhile, Shaun Wane’s men will be expecting to bounce back from a world club series defeat to Brisbane Broncos; one that showed just how far behind the northern hemisphere game is from the might of the NRL.

A major boost for The Red Devil’s chances is that Sam and Joel Tomkins look set to miss out through injury.

The youngest of the Tomkins dynasty, Logan, looks set to return to the DW in Salford colours, as Wane struggles with a barebones side.

Willie Isa and Josh Charnley are also out.

Prop Lee Mossop comes in, while youngsters Nick Gregson and Joe Betherton could make their debuts if they are included in the final 17.

The Salford signing spoke to The Mirror saying that he was glad they were out because he would ‘rather not play them’ and that he joined Salford after being stuck behind Michael Mcilorum.

The irony is that the latter is also out injured and Shaun Wane could have done with Logan in cherry and white for tonight’s encounter.

Outside the Tomkins dynasty, one of Ian Watson’s star performers so far this season has been Tommy Lee, who has been a major influence on the club’s recent form.

The captain guaranteed his side victory with a superb 40-20 kick against Widness, and was a major catalyst in Salford’s attack in their hammering of The Saints

Salford again include centre Junior Sa’u again following his late addition to the squad last week.

Prop Jordan Walne is the only other change to the Red Devils squad.
