Travel advice as sporting events make for a Super Sunday

The Etihad and Old Trafford are gearing up for a busy weekend with a range of sporting events taking place this Sunday, 28 February.

The Winter Run, a Crossfit Competition, Tennis Tournament and British Cycling Conference will mean local roads and transport to the Etihad are busy with thousands of visitors.

On the other side of town, Manchester United take on Arsenal with a 2.05pm kick off at Old Trafford, meaning roads and Metrolink services are expected to be busy.

People are being encouraged to use local park and rides and public transport to get to events where possible, with fast and frequent bus and Metrolink services direct to the Etihad and Old Trafford.

Local roads near both grounds will be busy, while parking at the Etihad will be limited, with the Winter Run route and dozens of coaches lining up at the ground to take Manchester City fans to Wembley for the Capital One Cup Final. Fans using coaches to get to Wembley are advised to properly plan their onward return journey home.

Metrolink
Extra trams will be running and there are fast and frequent services direct to the Etihad Campus and Old Trafford.

There are also free Park & Ride sites near both grounds. Parking at these sites is free for Metrolink customers during hours of service.

City fans travelling back from Wembley to the Etihad by coach should check last Metrolink times, with the last service to the city at approximately 11.15pm.

Visit the Metrolink website at www.metrolink.co.uk for travel advice, including a network map. Follow @MCRMetrolink on Twitter for live travel advice, or call Metrolink Customer services on 0161 205 2000.

Bus
The closest bus stop to the Etihad Campus site is Stop C on Alan Turing Way/Philips Park, served by the 53, 217 and 218 buses. Stop F, just a 10 minute walk away, is served by buses 188, 216, 217, 218, 231, 236 and 237.

For football fans heading to Old Trafford, services 256, X50, 250 and 255 are all within walking distance of the ground and run from Parker Street next to Piccadilly Gardens. Return services depart from Chester Road outside the Evans Halshaw Ford garage.
