In the North Bury Junior League Beechfield United Under 17’s were in action for the first time since 28th November 2015.
Manager Karl Stott was able to field a strong line-up for the home game with Radcliffe Town Blues and Beechy collected the three points courtesy of a 4-3 victory.
United made a decent start but on an uneven playing surface conceded the opening goal following some mediocre defending. Quickly finding a better rhythm Beechy moved the ball around with real purpose and Jack Healey was on target with the equalising goal.
Somehow United allowed their opponents the luxury of regaining the lead but once again playing more great soccer Beechy got a second equaliser thanks to Jack Healey before half time.
The second half was just as entertaining however Beechy gifted Radcliffe Town a third goal when the defence failed to deal with an in swinging corner. Saving the best till last United kept the pressure on their opponents and were rewarded with two goals inside the last ten minutes. Man of the Match Jack Davies supplied the finish for 3-3 then hat-trick hero Jack Healey scored what proved to be United’s winning goal.
Following two postponements the Under 16’s Timperley and District League’s Division 3 cup tie against Moorside Rangers Green became United’s home fixture and Beechy moved into the next round thanks to a 4-0 win.
After a goalless first half United took control and scored a quartet of very good goals via Callum Frier, Bradley Wheeler, Daniel Hickey (who’s spectacular strike from 35 yards produced the highlight of the game) and Man of the match Bradley Hodges.
Guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals of the Manchester FA Youth Cup are the Under 15’s Predators who were easy 5-1 winners of their 3rd Round tie with Barr Hill Diamonds. At Albert Park a below-strength Predators outfit who could have hit double figures held a 3-0 half time lead.
The goals came via Jace Winspear, Dylan Durose, Ethan Haynes, George Davies and Mitchell McGivern. Sharing the Man of the Match Award were Jace Winspear and Mitchell McGivern.
After a four week lay-off the Under 15’s Tornadoes resumed their Bolton Bury and District League fixtures with a Section C away game at Brandlesholme Warriors. For the majority of the match United were the better team and led 2-0 through goals from Troy Walker and Kieran Alley but Brandlesholme fought back and thanks to a last minute equaliser forced a 2-2 draw.
Aaron Gartley scored a consolation goal for the Under 14’s Storm who were playing their first Salford and Districts League Division 1 match since October 2015. United who lost 5-1 away to Deans Tigers in the Supplementary Cup voted Tom Bates as their Best Player.
The Under 13’s Tornadoes suffered a heavy defeat following their Supplementary Cup tie with Barr Hill Diamonds. Due to injuries and the loss of several players Beechy kicked-off the match with a newly assembled team and struggled throughout against their stronger and more organised opponents.
In a high scoring Supplementary Cup game the Under 12’s Storm played with total freedom and celebrated an 11-3 win over Deans Athletic but full credit to the Deans players who produced some good football and never let their heads drop. Beechy dominated the tie from the first whistle and getting the ball forward quickly via some fantastic link-up play scored several excellent goals and after two successive defeats this was a superb performance from the Beechy lads.
The highlight of the tie was Declan Hogg’s first hat-trick for the club while the other goals were scored by Harry Gartley (4) George Moorhouse, Jack Thompson, Kieron Robinson and Bobby Anderson.
Also in the Supplementary Cup the Under 12’s Tornadoes met Winton Yellows on the Astroturf Pitch at Salford Sports Village. Unfortunately United produced a poor performance and lost the match 5-0. The teams Star Player was Max O’Brien.
Beechy Under 11’s Thunder finally played their Challenge Cup quarter-final tie away at AFC Monton Thunder. The first half was a tense affair and despite Monton enjoying more of the ball they couldn’t breakdown a strong and well-disciplined Beechy outfit. United took the lead thanks to Samuel Oludoyi and Beechy were still one goal up at the break.
In the second half Toanga Mututa produced a first class display with some well-timed tackles and clearances while Prince Idusuyi and Dominic Lawton won the midfield battle. Somehow Monton got an equalising goal when the ball ended up in the back of the net following a corner but Beechy didn’t panic and continuing to play their attractive style of football eventually grabbed a winning goal via Prince Indusuyi. AFC Monton kept up the pressure but United defended superbly and booked their place in the semi-finals.
United’s Under 10’s Tornadoes had a Supplementary Cup Tournament fixture away at Winton JFC Blue but despite a one-sided contest Beechy lost the match. The Tornadoes created numerous chances but netted just two goals courtesy of Kaiden McClean and Man of the Match Jack Fitton.
At home to Barr Hill Aces the Under 10’s Storm took the lead through Harrison Davies but Barr Hill equalised making it all level at half time. Connor Battersby put the Storm back in front then Barr Hill got a second equaliser. On a difficult pitch Beechy eventually won this Supplementary Tournament match following a penalty shoot-out. Tawonga Chirwa was voted Man of the Match.
Enjoying a rare victory were the Under 9’s Lightning players who were away to Winton Wanderers. The match produced thirteen goals and on target for Beechy were Man of the Match Charlie Harris, Aaron Worthington, Sam Henderson and William Anderton.
Eccles College was the venue for the Under 9’s Hurricanes friendly match with De La Salle and making a superb start the Hurricanes scored three goals in the opening ten minutes. De La Salle reduced the arrears but United found another gear and added three more goals. On target were Josh Clough, Oliver Coles, Georgi Georgiev and Dominic Roaden.
With only seven players available the Under 9’s Typhoon knew they would be involved in a tough game against Deans Sports. A goal from Man of the Match Ronan Mullen gave United a slender half time lead but Deans came out strongly in the second period and equalised. Late in the game Jamie Withington skilfully weaved his way through the Deans defence and hammered the ball into the net for the Typhoon’s match winner.
For the second time in fourteen days the Under 9’s Storm met local rivals Moorside Rangers Yellow and Beechy completed a winning double over their opponents. The goals were scored by Freddie Jackson and Caden Gibson while earning himself the Best Player award was George Haywood.
Playing on grass for the first time this year were the Under 8’s Tornadoes who entertained Flixton Junior Jets. Beechy played some good football early in the second half despite a tricky playing surface. The Man of the Match honour went to Aiden Lawton and scoring the goals were Jonathan Lowery and Joshua Taylor.
On Sunday morning the Under 8’s Hurricanes were in action away against Manchester Maccabi Falcons. Jayden Walker and Brett McWilliams got the goals and Edward Lucas collected the Man of the Match Award.
The Under 8’s Storm’s goalkeeper Jack Hanbury produced another first-class performance in the away game at Ladybridge Lions. But Saul Tagoe who scored both goals was named Man of the Match.
Ethan Harris, Lloyd Hiles and Lexi Hiles fired in the goals for Beechy Under 7’s Hurricanes who’s Tournament match against AFC Monton Monsters was an action packed affair.
The in-form Under 7’s Storm created another stylish display in their away game at Prestwich JFC Buffalo. Goalscorers in this Tournament fixture were Kylan Twigg, Man of the Match Matthew Cox, Ellis Adamson and Henry Jones.
On the 3G Astroturf Pitch at Beech Farm the Under 7’s Tornadoes played neighbours Moorside Rangers Green. Man of the Match Anthony Hughes netted a consolation goal for the Tornadoes.
