Beechfield United Under 17’s were rewarded for a solid all-round display with a 5-0 victory following their North Bury Junior League home game with Elton and Walshaw Tigers.
A superb free kick by Jack Davies gave United a slender 1-0 lead at half time but Beechy took total control in the second period and easily collected all three points.
Elton and Walshaw rarely threatened to cause an upset and United added further goals via Malik Abdulgabar (2) Jack Healey and Jack Davies. Voted Man of the Match was Daniel Hickey.
At Stott Lane Playing Fields the Under 16’s were at home to Broadheath Central Dragons and enjoyed an easy 5-0 win. Bradley Wheeler helped himself to a hat-trick plus there was a goal apiece for Tom Haslem and Patrick Dennison. In the Timperley and District Junior League United retained a mid-table position in Division 3. Man of the Match was Joe Haye.
Chasing honours in the Tameside Football League are the Under 15’s Predators who had a to settle for a 2-2 draw after their JFC Sports Division away game at Failsworth Dynamos Blues. Beechy were 1-0 up at half time and held a 2-1 lead until Failsworth Dynamos equalised with a disputed goal late in the game. Mitchell McGivern scored both goals and Denford Dvzene was named as United’s Best Player. The teams will meet again next Sunday in the semi-final of the Manchester FA Youth Cup.
The Under 15’s Tornadoes met neighbours Moorside Rangers Blue in the Players Cup and Beechy progressed into the semi-final courtesy of a 3-2 victory. Despite creating numerous chances the Tornadoes went a goal down before Joseph Furlong equalised. After an evenly balanced start to an action packed second half United trailed 2-1 but a goal from Troy Walker got Beechy back level again then with ten minutes remaining a superb finish by Tom Nelson guaranteed United the win.
In the Supplementary Cup Beechy Under 14’s Storm entertained De La Salle Celtic at Duchy Road. The teams shared a 1-1 score line with Louis Zammit on target for the Storm. Named Best Player was Calumn Lomax.
Booking themselves a place in the Challenge Cup final were the Under 13’s Tornadoes who beat local rivals Moorside Rangers Yellow 7-1 in an entertaining semi-final tie. Beechy took the lead via new boy Charlie Ryan then against the run of play Rangers found an equaliser but quickly regaining control the Tornadoes raced into a 3-1 lead when Charlie Ryan completed his hat-trick with two goals in a three minute spell.
Charlie then topped an awesome first half display with United’s fourth and fifth goals putting the Tornadoes well on their way to the final. The second half was a much closer affair as Rangers forced Beechy to work much harder but United still managed to add two more goals courtesy of Leighton White and Jacob Wilson.
Beechfield United Under 12’s Storm booked a place in the semi-final of the Manchester FA Youth Cup following a thrilling quarter-final tie with De La Salle Devils.
Two of Salford’s top teams met at Beech Farm and it was the Storm who eventually came out on top thanks to a 1-0 victory. De La Salle kicked off the tie and were immediately on the attack but their opening effort went wide of the target.
It took both sides a few minutes to adapt to the overgrown playing surface and winning possession was vital especially in the midfield area. Clear cut chances were few and far between but it was Beechy who arguably had the best chance of the half when Billy Wadeson collected an accurate through ball but failed to beat the on rushing keeper.
The game featured a rather scrappy period towards the end of the first half with neither team wanting to concede that vital first goal so it remained 0-0 at the break.
A similar pattern developed as the second half unfolded though De La Salle looked more confident going forward and thought they had opened the scoring but United keeper and Man of the Match Ellis Craven produced a superb one handed save following a long range effort. United themselves were restricted to shooting from long range and tested the De La Salle keeper on a couple of occasions then the game went through another scrappy period with both midfields working tirelessly and making key challenges.
Beechy had an appeal for a penalty turned down when a De La Salle player appeared to handle the ball but the referee stood firm on his decision and awarded a corner instead. Seconds later United’s match winning goal arrived when Declan Hogg delivered an accurate corner kick and getting up highest in the area was Bobby Anderson who’s header hit the back of the net.
With about ten minutes to go De La Salle made a couple of tactical changes and putting heavy pressure on United’s defenders were awarded a controversial penalty but justice was done when Ellis Craven made a wonderful save and the ball was cleared to safety.
More great defending from Beechy in the closing minutes eventually secured a semi-final home game next Sunday against Sale United Lions who play in the Timperley and District Junior League.
Beechy Under 11’s Thunder played their Supplementary Cup game with Barr Hill Hearts at Eccles College. The teams were evenly matched for the majority of the contest but it was United who opened the scoring though Barr Hill equalised not long after.
A strong attacking surge from Beechy put them back in control and United added two further goals before the interval. Chances were rare in the second half and though Barr Hill scored again Beechy held firm and secured the victory. Goalscorers for United were Samuel Oludoyi and Prince Indusuyi.
In action at Beech Farm were the Under 11’s Tornadoes who played a friendly match against Barr Hill Cubs. Two goals from Sam Jones, a penalty scored by Jamie Butterworth and a fine solo run and finish by Will Whipday earned the Tornadoes a deserved win. Receiving the Star Player award was Harrison Birkett.
There was an action packed Supplementary Tournament game between the Under 11’s Storm and Moorside Rangers Red who won the tie with a goal in each half. Efforts from Beechy hit both the post and crossbar plus the Rangers keeper denied United several goals via a series of outstanding saves. Tom Cox was named Man of the Match.
Charlie Harris, William Anderton and David Olidoy fired in the goals for the Under 9’s Lightning in the Supplementary Tournament Green encounter with Boothstown Clarets.
Eccles College was the venue for the Under 9’s Hurricanes versus Prestwich Pumas Supplementary Tournament Purple fixture. Beechy dominated the contest and were comfortable winners thanks to goals from Man of the Match James Taylor, Tom Worthington, Dominic Roaden, Josh Clough, Georgi Georgiev and Oliver Coles.
Due to illness only six players were available for the Under 9’s Typhoon away game at Ladybridge Pumas. Jamie Withington terrorised the home defence and scored a brilliant goal, Ronan Mullen doubled the advantage before the Pumas fought back to equalise.
Beechy were awarded a penalty and Freddie Latham scored from the spot to restore United’s lead though Ladybridge Pumas drew level again. Earning himself the Man of the Match award was Goalkeeper Peter Ellis who produced a succession of magnificent saves.
There were outstanding performances by Caden Gibson and Man of the Match Josh McLoughlin in the Under 9’s Storm’s friendly match with Unicorn Athletic Terriers who hadn’t lost a match for two years. This impressive unbeaten run ended following a superb display from the Beechy lads who scored goals via Oliver Percival, Reece James , Josh Mcloughlin and Caden Gibson.
Goalkeeper Alfie Gridlestone received the Under 8’s Hurricanes Star Player award after the Development Group Yellow match with AFC Monton White. The goals for Beechy were netted by Jayden Walker and Brett McWilliams.
United’s Under 8’s Tornadoes were in action against neighbours Moorside Rangers Blue. With the advantage of a 3G Astroturf Pitch both teams played some excellent football and shared the honours in a ten goal thriller. Goalkeeper Freddie Wardle was Man of the Match and the goals were scored by Joshua Taylor and Jonathan Lowery.
Leading goalscorer Joshua Kilfoyle was on target again for the Under 8’s Storm who were at home to Ladybridge Lions. Sharing the Man of the Match award in this Development Group Yellow Division game were Oliver Cowley and Jack Hanbury.
Making the short journey to play Barr Hill Diamonds were the Under 7’s Storm. Goals from Kylan Twigg, Matthew Cox and Henry Jones secured Beechy a narrow victory. The teams Best Player was Scott Craven.
The Under 7’s Tornadoes away game with Moorside Rangers Blue was a great advert for mini-soccer. The Tornadoes goalkeeper Reece Cartwright produced a brilliant display but named Man of the Match was Harry Jones who got both goals for Beechy.
Involved in two high scoring games were the Under 7’s Hurricanes who played twice within forty eight hours.
On Thursday evening Player of the Match Lexi Hiles, Lloyd Hiles, Ethan Harris and Daniel Robinson got the goals when United met Winton Wanderers Hurricanes.
The Tournament match against Urmston Town Eagles on Saturday was a real thriller with the teams sharing ten goals. Man of the Match Ethan Harris, Daniel Robinson and Lexi Hiles were the goalscorers.
