GPs advise Salfordians to be prepared for the bank holiday weekend

Salfordians are being advised to plan ahead for any medical needs over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

GP practices in Salford will be closed over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend from Good Friday on the 25 March through to Easter Monday on the 28 March 2016, with practices operating again as normal on Tuesday 29 March 2016. However, Salford residents need not panic; there are other parts of the NHS open over the weekend to help with any medical emergencies.

A first port of call should always be to call NHS 111. NHS 111 is a simple, freephone (be it from a landline or a mobile) non-emergency phone number for Salford residents to call when they require urgent medical advice. It’s available 24-hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Callers will get helpful advice from trained NHS medical staff and directed to the right service, which could be a GP out-of-hours service, pharmacy, GP practice or A&E.

The GP out-of-hours service will be open to Salford residents from 6.30pm on Thursday 24 March until 8am on Tuesday 29 March 2016. It can accessed by dialling 111 and, if deemed necessary, you will be directed to this service.

In addition, there are also a small number of pharmacies in Salford that will be open over certain periods over the Bank Holiday weekend.
