As the nation comes together to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week and the positive impact apprenticeship programmes have on individuals, businesses and the economy, Morson Group awards their Apprentice of the Year 2015.
20-year-old Beth Dixon from Swinton is completing the Advanced Apprenticeship in Finance and has gained a range of new skills as she progresses through the levels. Beth completed her Level 2 apprenticeship in July 2015 and is now completing her Level 3, which she is due to finish in September 2016 and then may go on to complete her Level 4.
The former Moorside High School pupil, who is based in the Accounts department at Morson Head Office in Salford, combines her work with her learning at Kaplan based in Manchester. Beth started her Morson career working in Payroll before accepting a job in Accounts in March 2014 before embarking on her apprenticeship in September 2014.
Beth Dixon, Morson Apprentice of the Year 2015 said: “I am really glad I chose the apprenticeship route as it has given me direction and shaped my career. Once I finished High School, I enrolled at a college but left due to family reasons and that’s when I started looking at the different options available. I decided that there was a great benefit of working and learning which would be beneficial for my future as opposed to going back to college.”
Amongst her many responsibilities, Beth analyses invoices monthly which go on to affect the figures for each branch at the end of the month. In addition to this, Beth analyses the turnover of the company where she examines money coming into the business, payment of contractors and the profit and loss. Through her apprenticeship, Beth believes that she has developed a strong eye for detail and an ability to read numbers.
Beth added: “I was overwhelmed when I found out that I had been awarded Apprentice of the Year 2015. It was brilliant to be rewarded for all my hard work and to be recognised for all my achievements. I am really enjoying my apprenticeship, it is a challenge but I am looking forward to progressing as far as I can and continuing to gain as much knowledge as I can, which is what the apprenticeship is enabling me to do.”
