32 homes hit by 12-hour power cut in Weaste


Over 30 homes in Weaste are still offline after a power cut hit overnight.

Electricity supplies went off on six streets near All Hallows RC High School in the Weaste area of Salford at around 45 minutes past midnight on Monday 4 April.

The power had still not returned by the time residents were waking up for work on Monday morning.

The last major power cut in Salford: 1,100 homes and businesses offline in Broughton

Properties on Tootal Drive, Fairhope Avenue, Wentworth Avenue, Normanton Avenue, Malvern Grove, Fairleigh Avenue and parts of Eccles Old Road are affected.

A spokesman for Electricity North West said the problem was caused by an underground cable fault and engineers were now on site,

As of 9am on Monday the source of the issue had not yet been located, but there is an estimated repair time in place of 1.30pm this afternoon.
