A woman was attacked as she walked home from Manchester city centre.
Around 10.10pm on Wednesday 13 April 2016, the 26-year-old woman was walking home from a meal out with friends. As she approached the junction of Great Jackson Street and Chester Road she noticed a man on the opposite side of the road who shouted at her. She was talking on her mobile phone at the time and continued walking.
As she walked underneath the railway bridge on Dawson Street in the Hulme area, just outside the city centre, the man reappeared. He grabbed her hair and attempted to drag her under the archway. She screamed and attempted to fight him off. The man then demanded her mobile phone which she gave to him. He ran off towards Chester Road roundabout.
Police are appealing for information and witnesses and have released an Efit of the offender.
Detective Sergeant Chris Broad said: “This was a very terrifying ordeal for the woman but luckily she managed to get away without being harmed.
“We would ask if anyone was in the area at the time or they recognise the man in the image that they get in touch with police straight away.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4223 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
