Beechy slam seven past Aldwyn Town

Beechfield United Saturday Morning Senior Team gained three vital points as they look to secure a fourth successive First Division title.

United were at home to next to bottom of the table outfit Aldwyn Town but Beechy had to share a 2-2 scoreline at the break before taking control of the match in the second half and securing a 7-3 win.

Beechy have been notorious recently for making a slow start and this game was no different with Aldwyn Town constantly threatening to score the opening goal but it was United who took the lead when Max Leonard scored from the penalty spot.

The visitors were soon back level after they had been awarded a penalty though Beechy responded when Max Leonard was on target again however Aldwyn Town found a second equaliser just before half time. Knowing they could not afford to drop any points.

Beechy got their act together in the second period and gave Aldwyn Town a torrid time as they moved the ball around better with more speed and accuracy. Max Leonard who eventually netted four goals put United 3-2 up with a fantastic solo goal and Beechy then started to run riot and were able to celebrate an easy victory thanks to further goals from Wes Pierce, Ian Black and Scott Foulds.

Beechy have three games to play knowing three wins would guarantee they were champions again.

United’s starting line-up was Daniel Eckersley, Scott Foulds, David Harrison, Chris McCartney, Declan Oliver, Wes Pierce, Dean Quinn, Max Leonard, Andy Lord, Roy Owen, Damon Whitbread.

Substitutes. Ian Black, Mark Carney, Kyle Wray.
