Little Hulton man charged after £70k payphone thefts


Two men have been charged after more than £70,000 was stolen from payphones in Manchester.

Alan Portwood, 36, of Carrfield Avenue, Little Hulton and Paul Knowles, 37, of Broomfield Road have been charged with conspiracy to defraud.

Both men have been bailed to appear at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square, on Friday 6 May 2015.

The charges come after a series of thefts from British Telecom (BT) payphones amounting to over £70,000, from April 2015.

On Friday 9 April 2016, officers from the North Manchester Development Team and Neighbourhood Team, executed two warrants in the Little Hulton and Heaton Moor areas and the two men were arrested.
