Beechy Saturday Morning Team fall at last hurdle

Beechfield United’s Saturday Morning Senior Team who were 2014/2015 champions missed out on First Division honours despite occupying top spot in the table for the majority of the season.

Beechy’s penultimate match was an away fixture versus Manchester Medics but after twice taking the lead United had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Due a lengthy injury list Beechy were forced to field a weakened team but producing a superb all-round display United deserved to win the contest.

Keeper Declan Oliver started the move that resulted in Beechy opening the scoring in the 11th minute when his accurate throw out found Scott Foulds who after racing sixty five yards delivered a great cross and leading goalscorer Max Leonard supplied the perfect finish.

The home side forced an equaliser when the ball was hit deep into the area and though a Medics forward scored via a fine header he looked yards offside. Beechy were not discouraged and quickly regaining control continued to create some great attacking football and after twenty nine minutes went 2-1 up thanks a goal from Ian Black.

Always looking the better team throughout the second half United wasted four one-on-one’s with the keeper and totally against the run of play Medics somehow found a second equalising goal.
