Emergency services were called to the M60 motorway bridge at 9.35am today, Monday 16 May after reports that a section of the bridge had collapsed.
The bridge under construction is close to the Chill Factor on Trafford way and Barton Viaduct.
Early reports indicate that there are no injuries or of anybody being trapped in the rubble.
Firecrews have left the scene with police ansd site management officials surveying the damage.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area if possible.
