Top 5 things to do in Salford this weekend


The weather forecast for the weekend is sunny weather so why not get outdoors and make the most of it, we all know it won’t last.

Here are our five suggestions for things to do this weekend in Salford.

Peel Park History Walk – Saturday 21 May – 12pm – 2pm.

Discover more about the history of Peel Park and The Crescent with historian Jonathan Schofield. Jonathan has lead many guided tours around the north west, his tours are both entertaining and informative.

Salford Arts Theatre – saturday 21 May – 7.30pm

The Stars are Made of Concrete is a new play by Michelle Ashton.

Adam has never had a job. At the age of twenty-four he is deemed lazy and useless by everyone around him: but when his mum, Bev, is made redundant after over a decade of working in the NHS the tables are turned. As Adam struggles to set up a life for himself and his new family, Bev is left wondering – “If we’re all in this together, why do I feel so alone?”

Nominated for Best Drama and Best New Writing at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival, The Stars Are Made of Concrete shows the people behind the statistics and how they try to carry on with grace, humour… and ladyboys.

FA Cup Final – Saturday 21 May -5.30pm kick off

Its been a few years but Manchester United at back at Wembley to face Crystal Palace in a repeat of the 1990 Cup Final. This promises to be a great game with my money on the Reds. So watch in your local pub or why not draw the curtains, get the beer in and watch in the comfort of your own home.

Roe Green Cricket Club Festival
– Sunday 222 May – 1pm 5pm.

Call in at Roe Green cricket Club for waht promises to be an afternoon of fun for all the family, with face painting, BBQ, beer tent, bouncy castle, rides, dances and much more.

Live Music in Eccles – Sunday 22 May – 7.30pm

Nothing better than a bit of live music so pop into the Town Hall pub, Church Steet for an open mic night led by Aileen Waugh, all musicians and singers are welcome to get on stage and show their talent.
