Three people have been injured and a car left on its side after a driver sped from the scene of a serious crash in Little Hulton.
Police were initially called at 9pm to reports of cars speeding around narrow residential streets on Coniston Avenue.
They were forced to call in extra emergency services when a white Vaxuhall Corsa crashed on its side near the junction with Eastham Way.
A small black hatchback travelling at speed reportedly fled the scene in the direction of Manchester Road East.
Officers are now looking for this car in connection with the crash.
A high-powered white Mercedes AMG was reportedly involved but police said they were still checking conflicting reports and enquiries were ongoing.
Three men in their twenties suffered back and neck injuries when the Vauxhall Corsa flipped over on its side, crashing into the pavement and at least one parked car.
Police said damage had been caused to street furniture and garden walls.
No pedestrians are thought to have been injured.
Four ambulances were scrambled to the scene after reports of the high-speed crash.
Police, ambulances and fire crews were called to the junction of Eastham Way and Coniston Avenue to reports that a man was trapped in the Corsa after it was upended.
He was safely released from the car by firefighters and was conscious and breathing.
One man was being treated for a serious shoulder injury.
Three people were taken to Royal Bolton hospital for treatment.
None of the injuries are described as life-threatening.
