Appeal after teenage boy sexually assaulted in Tyldesley

Officers are investigating after a teenage boy was sexually assaulted in Tyldesley.

Between 1pm and 1.30pm on Wednesday, 1 June, 2016, the 13-year-old victim was playing football along a path off Squires Lane.

A man in 50s to early 60s approached the boy and pulled him into an area of trees and bushes before sexually assaulting him.

The victim managed to run off and told a member of the public who was passing by at the time.

The offender is described as having short grey hair, medium build, wearing a grey t-shirt, dark shorts and had a cut on his knee.

Detective Chief Inspector, Michael Fraser, said: “This would have been extremely distressing for the victim and we continue to offer our support to him.

“Offences like this can understandably be worrying to the community but I would like to reassure residents that we are doing everything in our power to find the man responsible.

“Officers will continue to patrol the area whilst we continue to follow enquiries.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen a man matching the description, acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the offence, to please call police.

Anyone with any information should call 0161 856 7225 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
