Five car pile-up at Eccles causing M60 delays

Five cars collided on the M60 near Eccles this afternoon with delays ongoing into rush-hour.

Heavy, storm-like rain is not making the clear-up job any easier, and the Highways Agency is still trying to deal with debris scattered across the carriageway.

The accident happened shortly before 4.15pm today, on the anti-clockwise carriageway just before Barton High-Level Bridge.

Six cars and a lorry were initially reported to be involved.

Greater Manchester Police said five cars had collided on the motorway.

There is one lane closed with queuing traffic backed up all the way from Junction 10 for the Trafford Centre to Junction 16 for Pendlebury.

There are not thought to be any serious injuries.

The Highways Agency say drivers should expect delays of at least 30 minutes beyond normal driving conditions.
