Teenage boy in hospital after being hit by car on Bolton Road in Salford

A boy is in hospital with injuries to his face and head after being hit by a car on Bolton Road in Salford today.

Police closed the A6 Broad Street between Irlams o’th Heigh and Pendleton roundabout at 10.30am on Thursday 25 June after the lad, who is believed to be 18, was hit by a BMW.

Eyewitnesses saw a body lying in the road, but after treatment from paramedics the boy was conscious and breathing at the scene.

He was taken by ambulance to Salford Royal Hospital.

Police are now waiting on an update from doctors to determine the seriousness of his injuries.

It’s believed the boy was trying to cross the busy road when it happened.

The driver was not arrested and early indications point towards an accident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101.
