Eccles bikers turn out for ‘last ride’ for Stotty

Eccles bikers turned out in force today, Friday. 8 July to pay their respects to Andrew Stott, better known as ‘Stotty’ who died on Saturday 18 June aged 57 from a heart attack.

Stotty was well known figure around Eccles, especially in the Town Hall pub, back in the days when it was a bikers pub.

He grew up in Eccles and attended St Andrew’s school and then Eccles C of E.

SalfordOnline.com spoke to his life time pal, Phil Blay who told us more about the man.

“Stotty was a well known and well liked man around Eccles, popular with everybody he met, and he knew a lot of people.

“I first drank with him in the old Hare and Hounds pub on Church Street, many years ago, after that we moved to the Town Hall pub which put on live music and quickly became a bikers haunt.

“Stotty was a great pool player and represented Eccles and Salford then moved up to playing for the County he was that good.

“His death has come as great blow to me as we both go back a long way and have had some fun together over the years, and I shall really miss him.

“I spoke to his two daughters Vicki and Rachael about organising a ‘last ride’ for him and they were in full agreement as this is what he would have wanted.

“We chose the meeting point at West One Retail Park because of the size of its car park as we were expecting a good turn out for him and rightly so.

“I would like to express my sympathy to Stotty’s family and also his pal Eamonn who he worked for, for helping with the funeral arrangements”
