Man slashed with knife outside Winton bookies

A man was attacked with a knife outside a bookmakers in Winton, Eccles.

North West Ambulance crews called police to the scene on Worsley Road at 4.55pm on Thursday 7 July.

The call came after paramedics had treated a man with a knife wound to his right forearm.

It’s not clear yet exactly how the man came to be injured, nor the extent of his injuries.

But it’s understood that shortly before ambulances arrived, three men in a white Transit van had pulled up at the roadside and called the man over, where he was slashed in the arm three times.

The man’s injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, police said.

Parts of Worsley Road and Westwood Crescent were cordoned off.

Officers are investigating whether the man had sustained any other injuries in a second location before he was attacked with the knife.

There is currently no description available of the men, nor a registration number on the van.

But Greater Manchester Police said their enquiries would continue in the local area this evening.

Anyone who witnessed the attack or has any information can call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
