Salix Homes is appealing for nominations for its eighth annual Salix Stars Awards which recognise the unsung champions making a difference in our communities.
The exciting categories for this year’s event include the Spirit of Salford Star, Aim High Star, Young Rising Star and Best Green Star.
Also making a return for the second time is the Shelagh Delaney Creativity Award which was first introduced last year in honour of the famous Salfordian playwright who grew up on the Duchy Estate and who penned A Taste of Honey.
Lee Sudgen, chief executive at Salix Homes, said: “The Salix Stars Awards are our way of honouring some of the fantastic work that ordinary people in Salford are doing to make this city such a great place to live and work.
“Every year we are humbled by the nominations that we receive and the extraordinary lengths that people go to help others and it is people like this that make our communities so special.
“We are looking for ordinary people who work tirelessly in our neighbourhoods for the benefit of others, so if you know someone who fits the bill then I’d urge you to nominate them.”
The awards, which are supported by lead sponsor A Connolly Ltd, will take place at The Lowry, Salford Quays on Friday, November 27.
Nominations are open to any Salix Homes customer including tenants, leaseholders or homeowners living in a Salix Homes’ neighbourhood.
A specialist panel will judge the nominations selecting three finalists in each category, which will then be opened to a public vote.
Nominations close on August 16 and the finalists will be announced in October.
You can nominate online, or call Sarah McNally on 0161 779 8028 or email salixstars@salixhomes.org
