Beechfield United Senior Saturday Morning team made an exceptional start to the new season following their First Division home game with Brushes Rangers Spartak.
Despite it being the opening fixture over ten players were unavailable and this meant that the team had just eleven players for the match with the Team Manager on the bench as a substitute.
However, the eleven players put on a really great performance winning what should have been a tough game 5-0.
Both teams started brightly producing some good intelligent football but after six minutes Roy Owen robbed the Brushes centre half of the ball and played a great through ball to his strike partner Kane Branigan who took the ball and rounded the keeper before he slotted into an empty net.
Despite being the dominant side and playing quality football that created several chances Beechy couldn’t add to the score line before half time.
After the interval Beechy were rampant scoring three goals in the opening eight minutes one for Roy Owen and two more for Kane Branigan giving him a hat trick on his debut. United dominated the second half and Roy Owen got his second goal when he completed the scoring with an overhead kick after seventy minutes.
Man of the Match went to Kane Branigan but there were eleven individual top quality performances and the football, commitment and running were a joy to watch.
United’s team was: John Bolton, Kane Branigan, Daniel Eckersley, Scott Foulds, David Harrison, Chris McCartney, Tim McQueeney, Roy Owen, Wes Pierce, Damon Whitbread, Kyle Wray.
