Eccles Giving Day – Saturday July 25th

Eccles Councillor Peter Wheeler is asking local citizens to help stock the numerous food banks that have sprung up in the area in recent years.

Appealing directly through SalfordOnline.com, Councillor Wheeler said: As you know there are a number of Food-Banks operating in the Eccles area, trying to help local people who are struggling to support themselves and their families. Frankly, in 21st century Britain, it is a scandal that people have to rely on food-banks for the basic necessities of life but whilst that’s the case we have a duty to help!

Summer is always a difficult time for food banks and that is why the Eccles Councillors organise ECCLES GIVING DAY – a chance for Eccles people to support the volunteers who are helping to relieve suffering in our local area.
The idea is simple – we deliver leaflets in the Eccles area encouraging people either to dig something out of their cup boards or buy a little extra when they go shopping, give us a ring on 07880 790182 and we arrange to pick it up on the Saturday Morning. We also collect outside Morrisons on the Saturday Morning and, If we have enough volunteers, outside Tesco’s in Monton.

This is the Fifth ECCLES GIVING DAY we have organised and in the past we have received fantastic support from local People. If anyone would like to help or would like more information please contact Cllr Peter Wheeler on 07880 790182 or by E-mail on councillor.pwheeler@salford.gov.uk
