Police searching for missing 61-year-old Kenneth Davies from Cadishead, Salford, have discovered a body in a car in South Wales.
The body of a man was found this morning, Wednesday 15 July, inside a car in the Gadlys area of Aberdare, where Mr Davies is believed to have travelled to in June.
No formal identification has taken place on the body.
Police launched a cross-country search when Mr Davies went missing from his home on Allenby Road in Cadishead at 9.15am on Friday 12 June.
Family said his disappearance was “completely out of character” and that he made no contact with them to say where he might be going.
They released an emotional appeal ahead of his 61st birthday on Sunday 21 June.
When he went missing he was wearing a red T-shirt and jeans with braces.
A short time later, around 10am on Friday 12 June, he was captured on the CCTV of Tesco Express petrol station in Irlam, where he withdrew cash from the ATM and filled up his silver Vauxhall Corsa, registration BP63 HNZ.
Police enquiries established that at around 11am that day Kenneth spoke to a shop worker, saying that he had to leave ‘unexpectedly’ but did not say why or where he was going to.
Kenneth is described as being white, of medium build, has short grey hair and 5ft 8in tall.
At the time of his disappearance Detective Inspector Ben Hart said: “Naturally, Kenneth’s family are concerned there has been no contact as this is completely out of character.
“We believe he may have been travelling to the Aberdare area of South Wales as he has family there although no contact was made with them to say he was travelling.”
South Wales police confirmed this morning that a body had been found as is investigating the incident on behalf of H M Coroner.
Greater Manchester Police, which is leading the search for Mr Davies, has been informed of the discovery.
