Salford-based David Stanford elected Vice President of CIMA

Salford-based management accountant David Stanford has been elected Vice President of CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

The accountancy body has 227,000 students and members in 179 countries around the world.

Stanford, who lives in Pendlebury in Salford, had a career spanning over 50 years in management accountancy before retiring in 2013.

He began his career as a cost clerk with UniRoyal before moving to senior finance roles with manufacturing and specialist engineering firms.

Now retired, David now devotes his time to managing his small property portfolio and good causes.

He was a joint founder of The North West Finance Awards and still chairs the judging panel.

In his spare time David enjoys word and number games and was a 2014 finalist on Channel 4’s Countdown programme.

A CIMA spokesperson said the appointment was “critical to promote management accounting in business and creating value in major cities around the world”.

Mr Stanford said: “I am delighted to be elected as Vice President of CIMA. It is a great privilege and I look forward to further building on the institute’s success both in Salford and Manchester and across the globe.”
