Salford ready to cut Cables loose in title challenge

By Josh DysonSalford City travel to Prescot Cables tonight and will be hoping for a win to keep their promotion and title challenge going at full pace.

The Ammies won 3-0 at the weekend thanks to goals from Danny Webber, Jason Jarrett and Grant Spencer, they will need to maintain this form following promotion rivals Darlington’s 5-1 win at New Mills last night. They’re currently behind Darlington on goal difference having played a game more.

There are postive signs: Salford met tonight’s hosts Prescot at Moor Lane just a few weeks ago and thrashed the Merseyside club 6-1.

Salford also go into the game boosted by two new signings.

Former Port Vale left back Owen Roberts and Goalkeeper Martin Fearon will be hoping to push Salford over the line.

Owen is yet another signing from Ramsbottom United. He follows in the footsteps of manager Anthony Johnson and assistant Bernard Morley.

They will be more than aware about what tonight’s home side can do on their day.

Back in October, Prescot knocked Salford out of the FA Trophy.

But Prescot’s form is that of a team going down.

They have won just three times at home all season and have only picked up four points in their last five games.
