A goal in each half from Bradley Wheeler secured United a 2-0 victory but this win was even more impressive because Beechy inflicted the first defeat of the season on the current league leaders. Joe Haye was voted United’s Man of the Match.
At Stott Lane Playing Fields the Under 14’s Predators booked their place in the semi-finals of the Manchester FA Youth Cup following a 5-2 win over South Manchester Youth JFC. The score at half time was 2-2 but after the break Beechy stepped up a gear and after taking total control ran out comfortable winners. The goals came via Dylan Durose (Hat-Trick) Robert Boardman and Alexander O’Connor and chosen as the Predators Best Player was Ethan Haynes. The Predators remain on course for a possible league and cup winning double.
For their latest Bolton Bury and District Junior League Section B fixture the Under 12’s Tornados (9v9) travelled to play Aspull Junior Latics a team they had beaten 4-3 earlier in the season. The Tornados made the worst possible by conceding a goal after only two minutes but they equalised when George Leigh forced an error from an Aspull defender who put the ball into his own net.
Then United led 2-1 when Jacob Wilson took full advantage of a poor goal kick and skilfully lobbed the ball over the keeper from 25 yards. The Tornados operated a tight offside trap but were let down when the referee who was facing the wrong way awarded Aspull Juniors an equaliser despite several of their players clearly standing in an offside position.
A deflated Tornados outfit maintained their fighting spirit but conceded a third goal minutes before half time following another debatable decision.
Into the second half and Beechy struggled against Aspull Juniors use of the long ball tactic and despite forcing three goal line clearances and seeing another effort hit a post United conceded two more goals and suffered a 5-2 defeat. A valiant performance overall and after the final whistle keeper Joe Horrocks was named Star Player.
The Under 11’s Tornados (9v9) arranged a Friendly Match with Flixton Juniors and thanks to goals from Max O’Brien and Jack Mather United won the game 2-1. Ben Naylor was awarded the Man of the Match honour.
Beechy Under 11’s Storm (9v9) were away to AFC Monton in the Supplementary Cup and were beaten 2-0. There was no Man of the Match Award handed out.
Following their Supplementary Cup home game with neighbours Moorside Rangers Red the Under 10’s Storm were celebrating after booking their place at Ayrshire Road on finals day. Goalscorers against Rangers were Bailey Lloyd and Adam Rothwell while Luke Carr collected the Man of the Match Award. Congratulations to Manager Sean Cox and all the players.
Also at home in the Supplementary Cup were the Under 10’s Thunder who met another Rangers outfit Moorside Green. Making a decent start United opened the scoring courtesy of Louie Percival but Beechy lost their concentration and Rangers equalised then took the lead and added another goal just before half time.
The players quickly re-focused and Thunder were awarded a penalty which was taken and neatly tucked away by Jake O’Sullivan. After two goals from Dominic Lawton Beechy were involved in a penalty kick decider but despite the brave efforts of keeper and Man of the Match Reiss Miller United ended up on the wrong end of the shoot-out.
On target in the Under 10’s Tornados versus Fives Athletic Supplementary Cup tie played at Beech Farm were Joe Hope and Ishor Bagai. Collecting the Tornados Best Player Award was Max Walker.
Producing their normal highly impressive start to a match were Beechy Under 8’s Thunder who were involved in the Eredivisie Cup. Against De La Salle Rangers in a Group a game Thunder scored three goals in the first half thanks to a Reece James hat-trick.
Continuing to play some great football in the second period United added two more goals via Reilly Happy but De La Salle produced a solid revival with three goals before Sonny O’Brien completed the scoring from the penalty spot. Voted Man of the Match was Cole Winstanley who played well in defence.
Creating an excellent performance against a very good Leigh RMI outfit were United’s Under 8’s Tornados. Only a great save by the Leigh keeper denied the Tornados a fully deserved goal and every Beechy player produced a first-class display especially goalkeeper and Man of the Match Reece Dyson.
The Under 8’s Storm played local rivals Moorside Rangers Red in a Development Match. Man of the Match Freddie Jackson and Josh McLoughlin fired in the goals for Beechy who hit top form.
In the La Liga Division Cup the Under 8’s Hurricanes made the short journey to take on AFC Monton Devils in a Group B game. James Taylor netted a consolation goal for the Hurricanes who’s Best Player was Harley Mullen.
Sale Communities Sharks were the Under 8’s Lightning’s opponents in the Bundesliga Cup. Charlie Harris who was also named Star Player scored Beechy’s only goal in this Group A fixture.
At home in the Supplementary Cup were Beechy Under 7’s Storm who played Flixton Junior Jets at Beech Farm Playing Fields. Voted Best Player was Coby Cleary and goals for the Storm came from Oliver Percival.
