SalfordOnline.com are hoping to reunite a family wedding album discovered in a car boot sale in Salford with its rightful owners.
Jacqueline Ridyard, from Fram Street in Langworthy, came across the eight-page album at St Paul’s CE Church on Broadwalk, Salford Precinct, on Friday 7 August.
It shows pictures of a happy family all dressed up in their wedding finery and by the looks of the fashions on show in the photographs, they seem to have been taken in the late 1940s or early 1950s.
Jacqueline told us: “I live near St Paul’s Church and I usually have a good rummage through the books that are on sale.
“I was surprised to find the wedding album, for which they charged me the princely sum of 10p!
“It is a white leather album with two tassels on it and to the right hand side it says, ‘Our Wedding'”.
Sadly there are no identifying notes or marks on the photos to give us a clue who the album may belong to.
It’s possible the photographs may have been taken at a registry office, rather than a church, judging by the windows in the background of the shots.
“I made enquires at the church as to who the owner of the album was but nobody seemed to know and it doesn’t look like the photographs were taken outside St Paul’s.
“Looking at the photographs I think they may have been taken in the late 1940’s because the lady is wearing peep toed shoes which were in fashion then.
She added: “I do know that the church is donated a lot of furniture and bric-a-brac from house clearances so this is possibly where this album comes from.
“I would love to return the album to the family as it is a wonderful souvenir of their family’s history.”
