The victims of three stabbings in the space of 24 hours have all been discharged from hospital after treatment for their wounds, police have confirmed today. Three men, including an teenage boy, were knifed in separate attacks in Salford on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 March. The first stabbing happened at around 8.40pm on Friday 20 March at Colman Gardens in Ordsall. Police say the 18-year-old victim, who suffered severe blood loss after he was repeatedly stabbed in the leg, may have known his attacker. Officers said in a statement the boy was lucky not to lose his leg such was the severity of the attack. Three people have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (section 18 wounding) but all have since been bailed pending further enquiries. Detectives have ruled out any connection between the Ordsall stabbing and the two further attacks which took place in Lower Broughton and Pendlebury. A 28-year-old man was slashed in the neck, back and chest in a ‘targeted’ attack near the Palatine pub on Edward Street in Lower Broughton sometime between 11pm and 11.40pm on Friday 20 March. The next evening a 29-year-old man was approached at around 7.15pm on Agecroft Road in Pendlebury and attacked with a machete, suffering injuries to his neck, chest and back. Police are linking the two attacks and it’s believed the Pendlebury attack may have happened as a revenge stabbing for the first. All three victims have now been released from hospital to continue their recovery. An update on the investigation is expected from Greater Manchester Police shortly. |
