Salford City Academy celebrate best ever results

Salford City Academy’s Sixth Form students are celebrating a 100% pass rate for the seventh successive year.

This summer, 100% of entries in BTECs achieved A*-C grades, with an impressive 86.6% achieving A* and A grades. All of the academy’s Year 13 students have also secured places either in higher education or employment/training.

Jon Davies, the academy’s Head of Sixth Form, said:

“I’m extremely proud of our students and the pathways that they have chosen, be it university or employment routes. Their drive and success reflects just what Salford City Academy and its students are capable of.”

Leading the way at the academy is Dan Cooper from Eccles, who has gained four distinction* grades in BTEC Sport, Forensic Science, Art and Design and Business Studies. Now the 18 year old is set to make great strides in his goal to become a podiatrist, studying for a BSc in Podiatry at Salford University, where he will have the opportunity to undertake training at the university’s own podiatry clinic and learn about possible career options.

Dan said:

“I’m really pleased with my grades, which are much better than my targets! With the support of the staff, I’ve come a long way since first starting at Salford City Academy.”

Another high flyer is Louis Edmonds, who is well on his way to fulfilling his ambition of becoming a paramedic after achieving distinction* grades in Health and Social Care, Art and Design, Business Studies and Forensic Science. Louis has undertaken work placements with rapid response paramedics and emergency medical dispatchers.  He will take a year out to build up more work experience in the social sector to help in his application for a degree in Paramedic Practice.

Said Louis:

“I’m really happy about my results, though I’ve had to work hard. Learning about the health care environment, as well as how to communicate and look after people has made me want to follow this career path even more.”

Faye White is heading to Salford University to study for a degree in photography after achieving one distinction and two distinction* grades in her BTEC Art and Design, Health and Social Care and Beauty Therapy.

Commented Faye:

“I feel really good today, especially about my Art.  I’ve focused on photography throughout my course and in my spare time. I’ve been building a portfolio of work and I’m really proud of what I’ve produced.”
