Pair charged with heroin supply in organised crime drugs bust at Salford flat

A man and woman have been charged with supplying heroin and cannabis after a drugs bust on a flat in Salford.

31-year-old Assim Ali, from Whitefield, and 20-year-old Taylor Wallace, from Bolton, appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Thursday 20 August and have now been remanded in custody.

On Tuesday 18 August organised crime police seized a large quantity of heroin and cannabis from a flat on Moor Lane in Kersal, Salford.

The same day, in a joint operation between Greater Manchester Police and Cumbrian Police, officers stopped a car and recovered a large amount of heroin.

Officers from Operation Challenger, which aims to dismantle organised crime networks in the North West, executed warrants to seize drugs from the flat at Lever Court in Salford.

Detective Sergeant Andy Buckthorpe said: “Challenger is Greater Manchester’s innovative approach to tackling serious and organised crime.

“Through collaboration with partner agencies and the general public, Challenger uses various intelligence-led methods to disrupt and dismantle organised crime groups across Greater Manchester.”
