No sign of Swinton ‘stab victim’ as man arrested for aggravated burglary


A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary after reports of a domestic assault on Moorside Road in Swinton.

Police were called to the residential street at 3.50am on Saturday 28 March, after intial reports of an argument between two estranged partners who had returned from a night out.

Earlier reports in the community of a man who had been stabbed in the chest have not turned up any victims.

Officers trawled through local hospitals in search of the suspected victim, as well as cordoning off nearby Shakespeare Crescent while officers conducted house-to-house enquiries.

The 29-year-old was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

A later search of his house revealed an amount of a class B drug and he was also arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.

He has now been bailed until 14 May 2015, pending further enquiries.
