Over three dozen firearms have been handed in to police four days into a regional gun amnesty.
Greater Manchester Police launched ‘Give Up The Gun’ on Monday 4 April in a bid to rid the streets of unlicenced weapons.
In the last amnesty in 2014 over 225 weapons were given over to police, including handguns, a semi-automatic submachine gun, and an arcane shotgun disguised as a walking stick.
Between now and midnight on Monday 18 April the public can walk in to any police station and surrender home-owned rifles, airguns, revolvers and antique weapons with no questions asked.
Those handing them in will remain anonymous and avoid prosecution for illegal gun possession.
In a month-long 2008 amnesty Greater Manchester Police received over 1,000 weapons.
The availability of firearms to criminals in the region is still of a serious concern to police.

Police divisions in Salford are still urging members of the public to #StandUpForSalford by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they know someone who needs to give up their firearm.
A £1,000 reward is being offered by the independent crime-reporting charity for information that leads to the recovery of a firearm and an arrest and conviction.
